My work lives at the intersection of strategic communication, rhetoric, storytelling, scholarship, writing, movement, and embodied wellness. Across each of these disciplines, my purpose is the same: to help people and organizations uncover what is real, give it language, and communicate in ways that create meaning, alignment, and trust.<\/p>\n

For more than 25 years, I have helped leaders and organizations translate complexity into clear, human-centered communication. I have shaped narratives that move audiences, build understanding, and create connection across teams, institutions, and communities.<\/p>\n

As a rhetorician, I understand that audience is at the center of meaningful communication. An audience is never merely a demographic, a stakeholder group, or a set of assumptions. Audiences are made of people, each with their own fears, values, expectations, needs, histories, and hopes.<\/p>\n

To communicate well, we have to move beyond generalized messaging and listen deeply enough to understand what people are truly asking to hear. Meaningful communication requires empathy, discernment, audience intelligence, and the integrity to speak with clarity, specificity, and care.<\/p>\n

Whether I am advising executives, shaping organizational narratives, writing, researching, coaching movement, or teaching embodied wellness, my work returns to the same conviction:<\/p>\n

Communication should reveal what is true, honor what is human, and build trust through integrity.<\/p>\n

Rhetoric, Audience, and Meaning-Making<\/h2>\n

As a rhetorician, I study and practice how language, audience, story, identity, context, and power shape meaning.<\/p>\n

My work centers ethical communication: communication that honors people rather than reduces them, listens before it speaks, and creates meaning rather than simply manufacturing messages.<\/p>\n

I am especially interested in the space between institutional language and lived experience…the moments when official narratives, personal stories, public memory, and human truth meet.<\/p>\n

This is where my professional, scholarly, and personal work converge.<\/p>\n

My scholarship examines gender, identity, embodiment, motherhood, running, and vernacular meaning-making.<\/p>\n

I hold a PhD in Rhetorics, Communications, and Information Design, Clemson University. My Dissertation: <\/a>Princesses, Divas, and Mother Runners, examined women\u2019s identity, motherhood, embodiment, and running through a rhetorical lens.<\/em><\/p>\n

I created and coined Running Rhetorics,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0a theoretical framework for understanding running as a form of communication between body, self, and world.<\/p>\n

Running Rhetorics begins with the belief that running is not only something we do. Running speaks. It reveals, resists, persuades, remembers, and gives form to experiences that often have no language.<\/p>\n

I write to make meaning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Across corporate communication, scholarship, creative nonfiction, academic publication, and personal narrative, my writing explores how people and institutions tell the stories that shape identity, culture, belonging, power, memory, and transformation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I help people and organizations craft narratives that are not generic, borrowed, or performative. The strongest stories emerge from lived experience: what has been endured, chosen, built, lost, reclaimed, and imagined.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\nDoes it reflect who you are becoming?
\nDoes it help others understand, connect, and act with integrity?<\/p>\n

I believe story is not decoration. Story is architecture. It is how we organize experience, communicate purpose, and create a future others can believe in.<\/p>\n

Embodied Performance and Wellness<\/h2>\n

As a running coach (RRCA)<\/a>, certified personal trainer,<\/a> certified nutrition coach<\/a>, and certified yoga instructor, I approach movement as more than fitness. I see the body as a source of knowledge, communication, strength, and self-trust.<\/p>\n

I created Mile Marker Matriarch<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, a podcast<\/a> and platform that centers women\u2019s embodied experiences in running and empowers runners at all levels, to help women run for purpose, healing, and power.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a world that often rewards speed, productivity, performance, and disconnection, embodied wellness offers another way: a way to listen, integrate, rebuild, and become more fully present to ourselves.<\/p>\n

My approach to running, strength, nutrition, and yoga is rooted in the belief that the body speaks. Movement can help us hear what we carry, understand what we need, and reconnect with who we are becoming.<\/p>\n

I created Mile Marker Matriarch<\/strong>, a podcast and platform centering women\u2019s embodied experiences in running, identity, purpose, healing, and power.<\/p>\n

Mile Marker Matriarch is built on the belief that running is never just running. It is a way of knowing, healing, speaking, and becoming.<\/p>\n

Through this work, I bring together my lived experience as a runner, my scholarship in rhetoric and embodiment, and my coaching background to help women understand running as more than pace, performance, or finish lines.<\/p>\n

Running<\/h2>\n

Running has never been just about miles for me.<\/p>\n

I have run more than 150 road races across a variety of distances, from 5Ks to marathons. My favorite running event is the Chicago Marathon, which I have run every year since 2017. But beyond finish lines, race medals, and pace charts, running has become one of the primary ways I understand myself and the world around me.<\/p>\n

For me, running is discipline, freedom, grief, resilience, self-trust, and becoming. It is where the body speaks before language arrives. It is where I have learned to listen to myself, move through hard things, reclaim strength, and make meaning from lived experience.<\/p>\n

My philosophy of running extends beyond performance. I believe running can be a rhetorical act \u2014 a way the body communicates with the self, with others, and with the world. Running reveals what we carry. It teaches us what we are capable of enduring. It gives form to emotions that often have no words. It invites us to become more honest, embodied, and alive.<\/p>\n

Running is never just running. It is a way of knowing, healing, speaking, and becoming<\/p>\n
